Embroidered patches start with a piece of fabric made from solid-coloured Twill weave, which serves as the background. You can choose the background colour to suit your design, with the artwork (text or logo) embroidered on top. Depending on the design, the Twill Fabric can be either fully or partially covered by embroidery.

The percentage of coverage directly affects the cost of the embroidered patch; more coverage means a higher price.

Up to 50% Coverage 

• Typically used for Text-only designs
• A significant portion of the background (Twill Fabric) remains visible

75% Coverage 

• Common for most patch designs
• Between 50% and 75% of the twill is covered by your design

100% Coverage 

• Covers 75% to 100% of the twill
• Results in a thicker patch with a more substantial feel

When ordering your Embroidered Patches, you have several options for attaching them:

• Sew-on – This is the most popular method. Simply sew the patch directly onto your garment or fabric for a secure fit that won't come loose.
• Iron-on – Featuring a heat-sensitive adhesive, this patch can be easily attached using an iron or heat-press. It's a quick solution but may not hold up as well as a sew-on patch over time.
• Single-sided Velcro – This option has the hook side of Velcro attached to the back of the patch, allowing it to be easily affixed to soft surfaces like felt or any looped Velcro
• Double-sided Velcro – With this method, the patch includes the hook side of Velcro, plus a matching loop side that’s cut to the shape of your patch, which you sew onto the fabric for easy attachment.
• Stick-on – These patches come with a self-adhesive backing, making them suitable for solid surfaces, but not for fabric.

Embroidered and Woven patches have some similarities, but they’re quite different in a few important ways:

• Embroidered Patches involve stitching a design onto fabric, which gives the design a textured feel. You can actually feel the text or logo. On the other hand, Woven Patches are made by weaving the design directly into the fabric, so the surface is smooth, and the design isn’t raised.
• Because of this production method, Embroidered Patches tend to be thicker and more textured than Woven Patches.
• If your design is intricate or has a lot of fine details, you might want to opt for a Woven Patch, as they do a better job of capturing those details. Just keep in mind that if your design uses more than 12 colours or has gradients, a Printed Patch might be the best option.
